What is Reiki, really?



Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that aims to balance the body, mind, and spirit through the use of energy. It was developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk, who claimed to have rediscovered an ancient healing method. Reiki is based on the idea that all living things have a life force energy, or Ki, that flows through them, and that this energy can be manipulated to promote healing and well-being. Reiki practitioners use their hands to channel this energy into the recipient's body, either by touching them or holding their hands near the body. The energy flows through the practitioner's hands and into the recipient, promoting relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety, and providing a sense of overall well-being. Reiki can be used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual issues, including pain, insomnia, depression, and anxiety.

There are several levels of Reiki training, each of which involves learning new techniques and receiving attunements that increase the practitioner's ability to channel and manipulate energy. The first level, known as Reiki I, is focused on self-healing and learning the basic techniques of Reiki. The second level, Reiki II, involves learning more advanced techniques and symbols that can be used to channel energy over distance. The third level, known as Reiki III, is the highest level of training and involves becoming a Reiki Master, which means being able to teach and attune others to the practice. Many other types of Reiki are now available and offer unique perspectives and possibilities.

One of the unique aspects of Reiki is that it can be practiced on oneself as well as others. Self-Reiki involves using the same techniques to channel energy into one's own body, promoting relaxation and healing from within. Reiki can also be used in conjunction with other healing modalities, such as massage therapy, acupuncture, or psychotherapy, to enhance their effectiveness.

While Reiki has gained popularity in recent years, some skeptics remain unconvinced of its efficacy. However, there is a growing body of research that suggests Reiki can be effective in reducing stress and anxiety, promoting relaxation, and improving overall well-being. Additionally, many people who have received Reiki treatments report feeling more calm, centered, and balanced. Therefore, many hospitals and cancer treatments facility promotes the service to friends and family.

In conclusion, Reiki is a healing technique that aims to balance the body, mind, and spirit through the use of energy. It can be practiced on oneself as well as others and can be used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual issues. While some remain skeptical of its effectiveness, there is evidence to suggest that Reiki can promote relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve overall well-being. I for one, have seen its benefits every time I client came to visit.
